Okay, so you've been running your business on auto pilot for some time now. Maybe you JUST started or maybe you're about a year or two in the game. You've either taken it upon yourself to purchase a cute notebook to write down all of your tasks, or bought yourself an online tool from another creator. All good stuff!
BUT, do any of these tools take into account the reality that sh*t happens... almost always?
Do they take into account the times of the month that are naturally VERY busy for you based on a round-up monthly newsletter, or a video blog you record every 15th of the month?
Well, if you answered no to all of the above, you're going to want to listen up because I have literally just the thing that could optimize your month based on exactly what you're needing to experience utmost balance in all that you do. Even if you want to incorporate work/life balance time into this task plan, the tool I'm using can actually allow you to incorporate that!
The tool that I'm going to be using in todays video is actually available for you to utilize for free! This tool is a spreadsheet tab and is actually a part of a master spreadsheet that I created called the Content Marketing Master. I'm going to continue adding to this spreadsheet with all of my best templates that I've created over the years, so if you want the spreadsheet that I'm using today for yourself, you can download it by heading here--> https://www.essencepresentsproduction.com/free-resource-vault
Let's start by laying out the basics:
Ask yourself: What are your MAIN DOINGS?
This is a little term I've coined with myself that basically describes literally, the MAIN things that you DO to keep your business making money. This could be research, creation time, consultation calls, etc.
It's all about getting to the root of your time. When it comes down to the core of the value you provide, what are you doing. For me– this is all about CREATION time, baby! When I get to the root of the value I provide, it all comes down to the time I spend creating. The longer I spend creating (whether it's blogs, editing a photo gallery, designing graphics, editing video or making music), the more value I'm providing.
To get ourselves in the right framework for this practice, be sure to define these "main doings" by name so that you know exactly where you're allocating your time when you look back on this next week.
Define how much time you need to complete each 'main doing'
Whether it's every day, every week, or twice per month, figure out how much time you need to complete and work on each main doing. If you have pre-existing commitments, this is the step you want to consider how much time you actually have per week or per day to work on these things BEFORE you define a time for each main doing.
I have a really helpful video called Google Calendar 101 where I walk you through my process for time-blocking so that you can get really clear on how much time you are working with to make your dreams come true. I'll link that video below!
Once you figure out how much time you have, you can then understand out of all of the main doings, what are the priorities that I need to commit to with the most of this time in order to keep my business running smoothly. This is going to take some brain power to decipher what is and is not a priority.
If you're full-time running your business, this is going to be easy for you to determine because you will pretty much already know what exactly is your priority, and what is not.
Fill in your monthly task plan!
Based on everything you've outlined for yourself, we're now going to hop in to my task plan spreadsheet! I'll be screen recording this section so that you guys can see exactly what I'm doing, how I organize the tasks in my own business, and how it can work for you. Let's dive in!
