Quick Design & Copy Hacks for Small Business Owners

ree

Who here is a small business owner who desperately needs help with graphic design and copywriting? 🙋‍♀️

You’ve been the one whipping up last-minute designs for your email campaigns. You’ve crafted compelling copy when you needed to get a blog or social media post out ASAP. You’re the all-in-one marketer AND the business owner, and honestly, you’re just exhausted. I’ve been there too.

Good news: I’ve got three quick hacks that will completely change how you create designs and write copy—without sucking up all your time. If you’re not already doing these, implementing them will make your life so much easier. Let’s dive in.

Hack #1: Define the Content You Want to Maintain & Create Templates

Have you ever made a graphic for social media, then the next day needed a different one for an email, and then another one for an event? And each time, you started from scratch? Respectfully, you’re doing it wrong.

Here’s what you should do instead:

Look at your best-performing content. If a social media post did well, use that design concept for future graphics across different platforms.

Create templates for content you consistently maintain. If you send a newsletter, build a Canva template for it. If you write a blog weekly, set up a structured copy template.

Reuse what works. If an email header or social post resonated with your audience, create a repeatable format so you’re not reinventing the wheel every time.

This applies to both graphics and copy. If you wrote an amazing blog post, use AI to generate a writing prompt that helps you maintain that same style in the future (more on this in Hack #3).

Hack #2: Integrate Your Brand Kit & Google Drive with Canva

If you’re not using Canva, this is your sign to start. And if you’re already using it but don’t have the premium version, upgrading might be one of the best decisions you make for your business. Why? Because of two game-changing features:

Brand Kit: Store your fonts, color codes, logos, and brand elements so you never have to search for them again.

Google Drive Integration: Access your stored photos, videos, and files directly within Canva—no more tedious uploading.

When everything you need is easily accessible, creating content becomes a whole lot faster and more enjoyable. No more getting frustrated because you can’t find the right font or image. Just open Canva, grab what you need, and go.

Hack #3: Reverse Engineer Your Best Copy with AI

Let’s talk copywriting. If you’ve ever written a blog, email, or social post that really hit the mark, you can use AI to help you replicate that success.

Here’s how:

Take your best-written content (a blog, caption, email, etc.) and paste it into an AI tool like ChatGPT.

Ask AI to generate a prompt that you can use in the future to create content with the same tone, energy, and impact.

For example, you can say:

“I’m about to send you a [content type] that I wrote. I want to be able to write future content that carries the same impact. Can you create a prompt I can use to guide my writing in the future?”

This ensures that your future content remains consistent, engaging, and authentically you. No more struggling to “find your voice” every time you sit down to write.

Final Thoughts

These hacks aren’t just about saving time—they’re about working smarter so you can focus on what you actually love doing in your business. By templatizing your designs and copy, integrating your brand kit, and using AI to refine your writing process, you’ll be able to create high-quality, professional-looking content without the stress.
