The Content Marketing Plan that 180'd my Productivity

ree

You're building a dreamlike, authentic brand all by yourself—but maintaining an online presence can feel overwhelming. I was in your shoes in 2020. I understood the value of an online presence, but I got caught in a never-ending cycle of creating content, running a business, and making products. Eventually, I realized that my approach was backwards.

The Shift That Changed Everything

I needed a content marketing strategy that would maximize my time and efforts. And after 3 years of trial and error, I believe I've cracked the code on exactly HOW to do this. The good news? You don’t have to figure this out alone. Here’s the step-by-step method I used to transform my content marketing strategy and make it sustainable.

1. Understand Your Goals

I always emphasize the importance of goals because they shape your entire strategy. If your goal is growth, ask yourself:

  • Where do I want to grow?

  • How do I want to grow?

  • Do I actually enjoy the platform I’m using?

For example, I thought I wanted to grow on social media, but I realized I preferred creating long form videos videos. Aligning your strategy with what you enjoy makes it more sustainable.

2. Develop a Content Strategy That Works for You

Once you’ve set your goals, build a content strategy that makes sense for your business. A key part of this is identifying content pillars. Think of them as genres of content that work for your audience and business.

Authority-Driven Content

Authority content builds trust and positions you as an expert. Examples include:

  • "How my client achieved X result in Y time"

  • "How I transformed my business using this method"

Sharing your experience makes your content unique and powerful—because no one else has lived your exact journey.

Inspirational Content

This includes case studies, testimonials, and real-life transformations. If you're just starting, you can use hypothetical stories to illustrate the impact of your product or service.

3. Pick a Sustainable Content Cadence

Content marketing should work for you—not burn you out. Sustainability is key.

  • Assess your available time. If you can dedicate five hours a week, that’s 20 hours a month.

  • Choose your platforms wisely. If you have 20 hours a month, I recommend focusing on one long-form platform (like YouTube or a blog) and two short-form platforms (like Instagram and Pinterest).

  • Repurpose content. Don’t reinvent the wheel for every platform. Use a theme for the month and adapt your content across channels.

The Key to Long-Term Success

Content marketing is a long game, but if you align your strategy with your strengths, define a realistic cadence, and prioritize authority-driven and inspirational content, you can build an online presence that supports your business without overwhelming you.
